Seasoned (but not too old to laugh) blue theologian on Iowa's red east coast. I write on political theology, religion&science, #MoralInjury, more, sing Bach to Rock, & dote on my Westie. #EndALS. It killed my wife. DMing me not knowing me = blocked.

Superb word choice! As if Johnson is both bloodless and sanguine.

@magachurchpastor.bsky.social Where've you been? Need you back on the front line (so we with foot mildew don't have to go there).

I guess she doesn't have any photo-taking drones in her fake beauty arsenal.

Noem claims Portland hid their war zone from her.

Much of the public, and apparently White House, doesn't know that many of the US military's general and flag officers are intellectuals. Study history and theory, get that war, politics, economics, and culture intertwine, etc.

Or maybe the White House does, and that's what they're trying to change.

Quite the allusion to the first two American atom bombs!

Hegseth today. All you who want a criminal military, say "sir, yes sir!"

"We unleash overwhelming and punishing violence on the enemy. We also don't fight with stupid rules of engagement. We untie the hands of our warfighters to intimidate, demoralize, hunt, and kill the enemies of our country.

I learned more from him than he intended. Best part of the class was that equally famed Hubert Dreyfus sat in all the time. The "lectures" were their conversations. 2/2

RIP philosopher John Searle (1935-2025). I was much influenced by his Speech-Acts and philosophy of mind work. As a theologian lamb among budding philosophical wolves, I took a class with him in my grad years. He was brilliant and caustic, beyond self-confident to insouciant and inhumane. 1/2

Well, Rand just recently weighed in on free speech. He opted here for so free it's worthless.

Been there! But then it's good to recall Jonathan Swift. "Going too long is as effectual, though not so frequent, a cause of abortion as going too short, especially in labours of the mind."

True. But not clear to me that the dominant side understands the danger presented by the 20%.
duanelarson.bsky.social
"Only" 20% is a hell of a lot of American citizens; far more than enough to bring down democracy, as the enervation of our democratic institutions already is proving.

I feel so much better now! 😁

So, whoever you are who envision and organize our big resistance protests, since it is the Constitution that is threatened, how about planning the biggest protest ever at the Supreme Court *while it is in session*? Deliver a direct and very loud word to our purported "justices."

In other words, speaker after speaker is committing blasphemy.

Speaker after speaker at this memorial is explicitly likening him to Jesus Christ. (Slain in early 30s, etc.)

Don't know how this goes over with people raised in other faiths.

Having been raised as a church-going Protestant Christian, I say: What the hell! This is not how Christians talk.

The 44 cent part is also odd, don't you think?

Customized thoughtfulness; very cool!

Can someone describe for me what moral difference there is between "just killing" a homeless person, severing a voice box from a Fox idiot, or just allowing said idiot to blather on? Looks to me that each and their repercussions are morally monstrous.

Brian Kilmeade endorses euthanizing homeless people: "Involuntary lethal injection, or something. Just kill them."

SCOTUS was 1st envisioned as an institution that aspired to a unity of moral and legal leadership. That is no longer so. It leads only in the devolution of legal judgement away from once cherished Higher Law to the divorce of legalia from morality. Indeed, SCOTUS is now ambitiously immoral.

Prez Bonespurs thinks he's funny. The sociopathic kind of funny that also laughs off victims of pedophiles. He's no humorist. He's beyond warped. He's perverted. He's criminal. And he's evil.
