The crowd let out a little cheer, enjoying the theatrics. So far, this CosPlay in the Park idea was a success. Throngs of folks of all ages had shown up in colorful garb to meet-up, picnic, take part in presentations and events, and do photoshoots in picturesque locations of Monongahela.
Karl adjusted his hat which was resting precariously on top of his bear-ear headband. He smiled. "Thank you all for joining me for this safety presentation! If you have any other questions, please feel free to come up to me or one of the other rangers," he pointed them out around the edges of the crowd. "And remember, our parks are preserved and need our help to stay that way. We want you to

take away memories, photos, friendships, some crafts, and a deeper appreciation of the nature all around us. Please pick up after yourselves because we want you to leave only footprints. Welcome to Monongahela and have a fantastic day!"
Another round of cheers, whooping, and applause broke out and then the crowd naturally started to break up. As the day's activities were about to get started, his fellow rangers started calling out for specific groups and leading them away.
Lucy, dressed as the mayoral assistant dog from Animal Crossing, lead a group of superheroes, space soldiers, incredibly beautiful boys from an anime or a video game or something, and people painted gray with candy corn colored horns back toward the Cranberry Mountain Nature Center for a lesson on traditional sewing with natural fibers.
Gordon, who had let the other rangers paint his face like a raccoon since he didn't have a costume, and Cole, who was doing their best Laura Dern in Jurassic Park, lead a group of elves, fantasy creatures, some more anime-looking characters, and a rogue Sonic the Hedgehog cosplayer down to the vans to go do a photoshoot by the Falls.
A family dressed as The Simpsons, Gandalf, a group in what looked like office wear with a girl with horns and a plush animal with a chainsaw for a face, a Flatwoods Monster, and a Harley Quinn whose shorts were honestly almost dangerously low for the environment followed Kelly down towards the Cranberry Glades. She wasn't in the spirit of things, having just put three black circles of paper on her regular uniform to be three-hole-punch Kelly. Karl got the reference, but it wasn't really funny per se. His heart hurt. Things hadn't been the same since she had high-tailed it into the woods when Karl had met his girlfriend.
Soon, all that were left were stragglers. The folks who either hadn't signed up for anything or whose programs wouldn't start until later in the day. Most of them wandered nearby... (Continued only on OF!)
