actually, upon further assessment, it is indeed a spiral! if you look really close.

don't think so, it's notoriously finnicky to get a good looking spiral with some 3D pipelines. It's trivial with CAD software, and easy enough with infinite time, but if they were using Blender/Maya/etc. they probably thought they could get away with linear ridges for a throwaway promotional asset.
