How soon do you need to be on (and be active on) social media?

Well before your launch date, that's when. If you wait until you are published, you will be behind the 8 ball.

Start building a following and relationships while you are writing and well in advance of publishing. Then don't stop.

It can be tricky with social media. It is easy to tweet or post complaining about the traffic, about your neighbors, the weather, etc. It is also incredibly easy to share too much information about your personal life.

One idea to increase your social media followers includes author branding.

Author branding begins with your social media profile.

Is 'author' part of your profile name or tagline? Your tagline should include genre as well.

Let your potential follower know that they have found you.
