The world's on fire | Stories & climate stuff | Slightly too serious and also slightly too optimistic.
@timfernholz.bsky.social I know you prefer reporting on outer space, but if you are interested in an autonomous firetech story—I liked your Burnbot piece for the NYT and you are on my wishlist of journalists for an autonomous wildfire suppression demo we are having Friday.

As wildfire risk continues to grow, the American West must significantly expand & scale wildfire response capacity. Technology is the force multiplier that makes this possible. (my photo on the cover of this story that features my employer)

Notes on the news about 🔥 fire this week! As someone who’s been worried about 🌎 climate change since I was wee, I was kind of excited to just be able to use 'climate change' so freely all of a sudden. But, not so fast. (Posted at the nice, sane hour of 7ish PST).

Every week I compile a list of fire news, and share it on Wednesday, along with a few thoughts. It's meant to be both informative and galvanizing for those of us working on the wildfire problem. Maybe something in there for someone like you. open.substack.com/pub/rainaero...

Well told, @npr.org. "Climate scientists say the belief that things won’t happen because they haven’t in recent history — doesn’t hold up in a warming world. Yet people are building as if things are the same — in places it’s clear they shouldn’t." apps.npr.org/us-wildfires...
