As part of our second year Sports Development module, we welcomed Sandi Procter, President of the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA), to the department to give a guest lecture to our student about developing participation in British tennis.

DSES graduate and Olympic athlete Lauren Irwin recently opened a new student rowing facility at her former college!

Lauren graduated with a degree in Sport, Health & Exercise from Durham in 2019 & won Bronze with Team GB as part of the women’s eight rowing team.

Our new academic year began with a Postgraduate Picturing Research event. Our PhD and Masters by Research students created an image and short text to depict their research. These reflected the varied, impactful, international and discipline spanning nature of PGR research within the department.

Lindsay Macnaughton, was recently invited by the Swiss Sports Nutrition Society to delivered a keynote session on Body Composition Assessment in Athletes: Why? When? How?. Lindsay also co-presented with her collaborator Therese Fostervold Mathisen from Østfold University College (HiØ) in Norway.
