So who wants to see some #zombie #fungi? I cleared some camphor saplings and lantana vine over weekend. The amount of #entomopathogenic fungi I found was getting really annoying. Ugh put down tools, get out camera, take photo for the wonderful bluesky people, pick back up tools. Repeat #fungifriends

It's constant drama on the tree. The caterpillar have it worst, being hunted by parasitoid wasps & entomopathogenic fungi. And then there's the bark crab spiders & lacewing larvae waiting in ambush for insects. Taxonomists changing the tree name after i had committed it to memory was rough though.

I have now discussed why some of my local snails have hairs with 5 scientists, and we now have over a dozen possible theories, with none of us being confident any of these are correct. Life is really odd. Even the normal looking parts of it.

Yes life, holds carbon from atmosphere while alive. Living biomass is super important. Things like fungi networks, grass roots & super pods of whales, all reduce atmospheric CO2 just by being alive. If they die & decay, that carbon is released back into ecosystem. All Earthlings are carbon based.

Such beautiful birds :) I keep an eye on the berries out my window growing on the bottle brushes, to try spot them. Once we had a mistletoe bird and a scarlet honey eater at same time. Talk about best backyard tree ever

Day 4 playing around removing backgrounds. I have discovered that removing the green leaf a green caterpillar is on, makes that caterpillar POP on a black background. Much, I am sure to the caterpillars eternal horror lol.

All the temples, churches and mosques of gaza are damaged or destroyed. So much history lost. There a virtual version of 2022 gaza being made as a game you can walk through, populated by models of people killed by israel since then. It's basic but impactful. Israel is obligated to fund this rebuild

A good start would be reviewing what happened in 1948, and repercussions and reparations for the victims of it. Until there is justice for the victims of 1948, there is no justice in this world.

There is a lot of dark and horrible. But I think we need to focus on what we can do to spread the love. You can't hug a kid in Gaza, or magic their parents back to life.But we could all afford to send a gift. There should be free postage to gaza.Peace is the best Christmas present.Why not a toy too?

If everyone globally who wanted to help child mental health, divided up the children of Gaza between them.... we could send each child a box of fun stuff. And in a tiny way, give them a little sign we havent forgotten them. These kids have more ptsd than any generation before. Break the blockade

Did we solve the plastic waste in the ocean problem? Awesome! Turtles eating plastic bags, getting stuck in ghost nets, inhale straw impales, microplastics in blood ect was really getting me down.

In a 1990 interview with The Independent, Dahl said that he had become antisemitic, "in as much as that you get a Jewish person in another country like England strongly supporting Zionism". He was being accused of being so because he supported jews, he didn't support zionism. 🙄
