October Vintage Horror Paperback Day 12!

SHE WAKES by Jack Ketchum.

Ketchum’s only supernatural story, which doesn’t seem to get a lot of love. It’s grody Jody pulp that I had a really good time with, plus it made me feel like I was on my own nightmare Greek vacation.

October Vintage Horror Paperback Day 11!

THE BRIDGE by John Skipp and Craig Spector.

You wouldn’t think an eco horror story would get this goddamn bananas, and yet… and yet…

Same thing happened to me (same thing also happened to me with Rush years ago).

It was Stagger Lee and Billy
Two men who gambled late
Stagger Lee threw seven
Billy swore that he threw eight

They didn’t need anything out that would showcase how weak the DKR interpretation of Bane was at the time.

A Knightfall movie though, damn. That would make my 7 year old dreams come true.

October Vintage Horror Paperback Day 10!

It’s Friday and I’m not working, so here’s 4 covers from my favorite 70’s/80’s pulp writer, Guy N. Smith.

Honestly, could’ve just posted Guy N. Smith covers every day this month.

Maybe next year.

I looooove that movie. Also, writer/director S. Craig Zahler has some excellent books under his belt. The two dark westerns “A Congregation of Jackals” and “Wraiths of the Broken Land” are a couple favorites that I reread every few years.

Extremely brutal, but so good.

October Vintage Horror Paperback Day 9!

RELICS by Shaun Hutson.

I haven’t had a ton of luck reading Hutson, and that mostly includes this one, but it features an all-timer ending that I’m not likely going to forget (even if I’ve forgotten most of the rest of this novel).

‘It's the wind I don't like, when it picks up and begins to howl, driving the snow into a hundred weird flying shapes and sounding like all the hate and pain and fear in the world. There's death in the throat of a snowstorm wind, white death—and maybe something beyond death.’

It’s a joy to see Liam Neeson in something so completely stupid.

Watched a couple new movies yesterday.

NAKED GUN was pretty good.

TERRIFIER 2 was alright.
