“The country w/ the Statue of Liberty deprived us of our liberty w/o any kind of evidence”

Men deported under Trump’s anti-immigrant purge are speaking out after being imprisoned in El Salvador’s mega-prison CECOT.

But as @tusk81.bsky.social warns, "U.S. citizens are not immune from these purges."
The Men Unjustly Purged To A Salvadoran Mega-Prison By The Trump Administration Are Speaking Out
“The country with the Statue of Liberty deprived us of our liberty without any kind of evidence,” said one formerly imprisoned man.

Under the big, ugly budget, $𝟒𝟓 𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐨𝐧 of the nearly $171 billion dedicated to brutal immigration enforcement will go towards building new ICE detention camps to jail immigrants, including children and families.
Private Prisons Are Set To Massively Profit From Stephen Miller’s Mass Detention Agenda
And they can barely contain their glee. “This is truly one of the most exciting periods in my career,” one private prison executive said earlier this year.

There is no #PRIDE in detaining immigrants! Andry Hernandez Romero — a gay asylum seeker and survivor of political violence — is still disappeared within the #CECOT prison in El Salvador, with no access to a lawyer, due process, or communication with loved ones.

As of today, the legal status of over half a million people under the #CHNV #HumanitarianParole program has been revoked. This is the largest de-legalization in history, making it clear that the current administration will do anything to make immigrants lose their protections under the law.
⚖️ The fight is not over. JAC + @humanrightsfirst.org alongside @haitianbridge.bsky.social continue to fight the Trump admin's pause on processing pending immigration benefits for humanitarian parole beneficiaries, while challenging the government’s appeal to the First Circuit Court of Appeals.

This is a cruel denial of the right to due process. Immigrants should not have to fear detention and deportation, especially while going through the proper legal channels to seek legal status.
The arrest of four asylum seekers at SF immigration court on Tuesday is an attack on the right to due process.

“…immigrants are facing an impossible choice between
skipping hearings — and risking deportation in absentia — or potentially being arrested by ICE while attending court.”

There is no climate justice without migrant justice. Acknowledging the intersections between climate disasters - often propelled by developed countries - and migration is crucial in understanding why people leave their homes in the first place.
BREAKING: New report from IRAP & Las Americas highlights the dangers of the Trump admin's anti-immigrant and anti-climate policies.

The majority of interviewees identified environmental disasters as contributing factors in their decision to flee.
