At the 7th Meeting of Parties to the Protocol on Water and Health which was held in Budapest from beginning of November, an Eawag delegation contributed to several high-level interventions, panel discussions and to a side-event with the WHO Collaborating Centres 💧💪

Three recent studies examine pesticide pollution in Swiss streams and rivers. With comprehensive screening of over 250 pesticides, they show which of them occur in water bodies and which pose the highest risks to aquatic organisms 💧

Rebecca Oester has received the Schwoerbel-Benndorf Young Scientist Award for her paper ‘Riparian forests shape trophic interactions in detrital stream food webs’, which she wrote as a PhD student at Eawag.

Climate change is altering air temperature and precipitation patterns in Switzerland, thereby impairing the recharge and quality of groundwater. A mix of measures is needed to ensure the sustainable use of groundwater as a resource.
