Hey, people here? Thank you for staying.

It means more than I should express regarding my ptsd and mental health. When I go full triggered, I sit, repeat, and say miigwetch to the names of people who actually care and trust me until I start to be able to function again.

If you have a few dollars to spare, donations to places like Chytomo and Global Voices are critical right now.

We must, must have independent voices speaking truth about power. And that requires resources.
The Читомо website was recently attacked after posting about the sudden death of Nora Ikstena, a Latvian writer who wrote about Russian totalitarianism, and a Ukrainian-language article on the killing of Renee Good.

They're a small team speaking truth about power, if you can afford to donate.

Please also consider that no one tells anyone they are talking about the American government, trans rights, genAI, ICE, or anything else too much.

Only whiteness and misogynoir.

Posts mean nothing if you are not willing to lose some privilege to protect others. Without actions, your posts are just performative.

In this new essay, Christine Sun discusses the politics of translation, with a particular focus on a simultaneously published Chinese and English anthology of SFF stories.

Anyway, people wanna ask me stuff, ask it. I'm right here.

Just ask it's in good faith and not another ambush.

But I'm real honest. Just ask it.

I refuse to abandon my fellow writers because it gets hard.

Genre liked that sentiment when it got Embroidered Worlds funded but suddenly don't like it when the people we're abandoning are Black W/QTI.

So. Onward. Chin up and keep going and know I'm seen and even actually loved.
January 11, 2026 at 7:46 PM
The reason I started talking about whiteness was because I kept trying to volunteer at cons. Each time, Black W/QTI would say - if you really want to help, these spaces are hostile and unwelcoming to us - every time, over and over - so I listened and tried to help.

And kept getting booted for it.
January 11, 2026 at 7:40 PM
This post is on point.

Yes, I believe our refusal to have conversations on whiteness is at a point of urgency and I haven't seen anything from the accounts of experts to suggest otherwise.

Also here's a thread about immediately going to centering, if it's helpful: bsky.app/profile/edeb...

Anyway, I really hope the thing happening on Feb 4th/5th provides a lot of light to a lot of people.

I don't like vagueposting, I'm more just trying to tell people, in addition to the three novellas, something cool is happening *very* soon.
January 11, 2026 at 6:46 PM
Give other good people more grace.

I really, really, try to.

That's not the same as coddling our silence around whiteness and abuse.
January 11, 2026 at 6:35 PM
White people need to understand that they are making each other *terrified* to stand up for anyone and this is systematic training.
January 11, 2026 at 6:29 PM
This bar being set by exclusively white people on having to be perfect to be anti-racist is extremely violent, btw.
January 11, 2026 at 6:12 PM
Let's do an airing of grievances. You show what I've done that was wrong, and I'll go through and apologize for it.

As long as then we can talk about the abuse in our spaces.
January 11, 2026 at 5:47 PM
I'm very serious. If embarrassing me gets us to the conversation about abuse in our spaces, let's do it.

If that's what people want.
January 11, 2026 at 5:46 PM
Gaslighting emails?

I have no idea what this is and am happy to take accountability for my mistakes. Show them. If that's a good use of genre's time.

I'll admit to anything I've did but this attack on me and our press has to stop and start being called out for what it is.

@dreamfoundry.bsky.social you have my permission to release the *whole* conversation (I have the part that was deleted if you don't) - go ahead and mark out the other names if you want.

Let's have the conversation.

I'll admit when and where I was wrong.
January 11, 2026 at 5:42 PM
Oh, good, we can talk about it?

Release the entire transcript, show that I was asked to answer a question and tried to, show that the only message deleted was from a Black woman, and show that I wasn't banned until hours later, after I'd stopped after the first actual moderator request to do so.

And yes, if you don't know, Dream Foundry / Flights of Foundry permanently banned me without discussion or appeal because the white lady in charge was, according to her, "disappointed" in me.

Great look for genre, guys. No one is serious yet.
January 11, 2026 at 2:42 PM
White writers?

Read this post as many times as needed if you don't understand why I've been *permanently banned without discussion or appeal* from multiple cons and there's no actual reason cited as to why. No reason!

Then ask why you don't care.

They'll do it to me, they'll do it to anyone.
Back in the day, when I used offer ✨antiracist✨ training to individual white people, I’d always remind them:

You can be confident you’re on an effective antiracist path, if you’re experiencing reactions, results, even results that feel like negative consequences for your actions.

Keep going. ✊🏽✨

When I talk about imagining a better world, I don’t mean navel gazing. I mean organizing to help each other like this. Great work!
This was incredible. We fed 40 families today. Thank you to @jchavezmpls.bsky.social for helping fundraise, @elitalksmpls.bsky.social for organizing with me, and the dozen people who helped us pack and shop. And thank you to everyone who donated. I have no words.

If he tells you he didn't say this, then I challenge him to come on live video with a mutually agreed-upon moderator and have this conversation again. About the urgency of supporting bold and independent voices in publishing.

Let the people judge.
I hosted a panel on this in 2024. On this exact need.

A man told the packed room "some people" (gesturing at me) just need to settle down, focus on monopoly and tech, then doubled down that any problem I was trying to discuss is really that you can't force people to read what they don't want to.
