I welcome the agreement on the first phase of President Donald Trump’s peace plan. I commend the leadership of the United States and diplomatic efforts of Qatar, Egypt and Türkiye. Immediate release of Israeli hostages, ceasefire and humanitarian assistance in Gaza should follow.

I welcome US President Donald Trump’s proposed comprehensive plan to end the war in Gaza.

It is important that all parties now agree to implement the plan for a better and more peaceful future for Israelis, Palestinians and the whole Middle East region.

I welcome launch of NATO’s Eastern Sentry to enhance air defense of the Eastern flank. Important move after Russian drone incursion in Poland this week. Like Baltic Sentry in the Baltic Sea to protect undersea infrastructure, it is another step to bolster regional security.

Russia continues to escalate by aggressively attacking civilian infrastructure of Ukraine and now also the Government building in Kyiv was hit.

The message is clear- Kremlin wants war, not peace.

Our response must be more weapons to Ukraine, more pressure on Russia.

August 23, 1939- Stalin and Hitler made a deal known as #MolotovRibbentrop pact dividing Europe in spheres of influence. 9 days later Nazi Germany invaded Poland and the World War II began, Baltic states soon were occupied. A history lesson that is relevant today’s world as well.
