From my recent concert with the Wellesley Symphony Orchestra:

Question of the Day:

Would you hire this man?

Unusual problem with my bass hardware

End pin was tight to insert/remove. Collar insert came out with end pin.

End pin unit with collar insert sticking out.

Replaced the entire end pin hardware with end pin. Had to ream the hole larger in bass. Used a very sharp 10” reamer with a T-handle.

You might remember the pics of the snow squall from a week or so ago.
Last night, a wind-driven snow squall came thru late.
I asked the conductor, “Did you see what was happening behind you?”
Him, “Yes, I saw that. Was that your influence? Maybe, I should ask you not to return until April?”

Izzis addin’ insult to injury?

These 2 snow mountains are chin-high on me. I’m 5’5”

Geezus Eddie, are you dressed for a PA SGL or a Wallop of a snowstorm?

These are my tights, been wearing them since I was about 12. Not as stylish but a lot warmer than current women’s fashion...

One of my groups is having to rehearse in a cafeteria.

One of the musicians thought about buying supper but was put off by some of the containers available.

Looking at them, I quipped, “Eating one of these would likely turn you into a Marvel super-hero.”

She didn’t make a purchase.

So, after the bass section was taken aback at this passage from “Romeo & Juliet, Suite No. 2” by Prokofiev, I talked to our conductor after. He’s English with a dry wit...

I told him I thought “Prokofiev was kinda wild.” With his usual twinkle in his eye, he replied, “You do?“ Well, so do I.”

So, the show went on...

Part 1 of an uncommon double-Eder, with an even rarer occurence of a gig in Boston, 1st time in decades.

Subbed in a big band Thursday night. They were rehearsing for a holiday concert. One of the numbers was this.

After the song, I asked the trumpet section, "Did any of you hear James Darren / Jack Jones singing this on the "Boat of Love"?

Are you? If' so, "gimme a Hell Yeah!"
