In Sweden, SOS Alarm has replaced manual steps in the emergency dispatch process with automation that saves lives, cutting the time between a 112 call and ambulance dispatch from up to 30 seconds to under two.

Firefighters from #Blanchardstown responded to this car fire last night.

A high pressure hose reel was used to extinguish the fire.

It can take up to 1,000 litres of water to extinguish a fire like this, sometimes we will "make down" to a fire hydrant close by to replenish our supplies.

EENA welcomed the proposed increase of the Union Civil Protection Mechanism budget to EUR 10.7 billion, while stressing the need for complementary national action and calling for EU support to also cover emergency communications such as public warning and 112.

Emergency call outage in Australia was linked to multiple deaths.

The disruption, caused by a botched firewall update during a network upgrade, blocked more than 600 emergency calls.

At least three deaths have been linked to the outage.

The recent wildfires in Cyprus exposed a dangerous gap: there is still no operational public warning system, despite EU law requiring it since 2022.

EENA urges Cyprus to act now, and calls on the European Commission to enforce the law in all Member States.

🆕 The European Commission will publish its long-anticipated Digital Networks Act (DNA) on 16 December 2025, according to Politico.

The DNA is expected to be less ambitious than the complete overhaul of digital rules proposed in the 2024 European Commission white paper.
