This year, Universal Music's Estonian office will cease operations. After Warner and Sony closed their offices, it was the last of the "big three" record companies still operating in Estonia. Universal Music Estonia (formerly Baltics) is part of Universal Music Group, the world's largest record company, and is responsible for the distribution, licensing, marketing, and physical and digital sales of music by artists signed to Universal in the Baltic region. The first local band to join Universal Music's Estonian office, which opened in 2008, was Röövel Ööbik. The album "Ringrada" was released in collaboration with Universal. Over the course of 18 years, Tanel Padar & The Sun, Siiri Sisask, Metsatöll, Malcolm Lincoln, Elina Born, Jüri Pootsmann, Metsakutsu, Getter Jaani, Liis Lemsalu, Maian, Uudo Sepp, Miljardid, Alika and others have also been signed to Universal's Estonian branch. Currently, Estonian artists Villemdrillem, Clicherik & Mäx, Clicherik as a solo artist, and 5miinust are still active under Universal Music. Last year, Elina Born and Merilin Mälk joined Kurvad Uudised, which was founded in 2023. The collaboration between the last superstar winner Ant Nurhan and Universal ended in the summer of 2025. Universal Music Estonia has been named Music Producer of the Year four times at the Estonian Music Industry Awards. This Friday, the record company will release rapper Clicherik's new song "Õuna sees" (Inside the Apple). The release of Clicherik's mini-album will be the last release by Universal's Estonian branch. In the spring of 2024, Warner Music closed its doors in Estonia. In the same year, Sony Music also ended its cooperation with local artists.
