i mean, this is why the fed welfare offices got established way back in the 1860s. The NGO charities just didn't have the infrastructure or pull of the government. those NGOs said "please take over, you will be more effective"

but crucially, they still did what they could until the govt could do it

No, my point was that 1) it's true that NGOs aren't the most efficient or effective, but 2) when they're the only option available, they're still worth supporting.

and 3) food banks and other charities CAN ramp up to meet extra demand when they are given resources, better than starting from scratch

There was no outrage when Obama deported people because he did it with grace, he didn’t use hateful language to encourage anti/immigrant sentiment and frame them as dangerous criminals.

Sorry, of course yes the ballroom is being paid for by donors in a pay to play scheme. That’s right it was his vanity parade that was paid for by tax payers. It’s difficult to follow who’s being extorted.

Immigrants, illegal or otherwise are human beings—they should be afforded human rights.

We're better than this. We can have higher ambitions than "just following orders".

Illegal immigrants commit less violent crime per capita than the general population—again empty rhetoric is driving this.

He's literally tearing families apart, rounding up human beings from their places of work, and from courthouses where they are legally applying for asylum (a right granted by the declaration of human rights), he's sending them to concentration camps in countries with no human rights oversight.
