Seeing trans kids realize their favorite author is trans too is an amazing thing. And it gives them hope to see someone who is trans and successful without their entire existence being defined by it.

I’m sure somebody somewhere can come up with an extreme example that justifies it but 99% of the time, I feel like anyone who’s still closeted doesn’t have the right to accuse an out trans person of being too assimilationist. You must be this tall to get on the ride.

We're both talking personal experience because I haven't seen anyone bring any statistics to this argument yet. But since you seem determined to erase my lived experience as a bunch of lies, I guess I'm done trying to stop you from talking yourself into a depressive spiral.

I know several trans people and I'm nonbinary myself. Some of them transitioned back when trans people were the butt of jokes. None of them have had anything worse than an occasional snide comment.
The rhetoric from the federal government is scary, but social acceptance remains high in most places.
