Understanding the ongoing importance of the battle of ideas and inspired by the 1919 Democratic Programme of the First Dáil Éireann, Éirígí has developed and published a modern-day Democratic Programme For The New Republic. #ForANewRepublic

Boycott Apartheid Israel, issue sanctions against the Zionist regime, and stop the use of Shannon airport as a de facto US military base! No ifs. No buts. No excuses.

The Apartheid state of Israel, along with their U.S and EU allies, will keep trying to hide the crimes that they are perpetrating against the heroic people of Palestine. Don’t let them silence the truth!
eirigi1916.bsky.social
While a delicate ceasefire has been agreed to, it’s important that we remain steadfast in our solidarity with the Palestinian people and calling on the Dublin government to take action against Apartheid Israel’s crimes against humanity.

Éirígí #ForANewRepublic activists attended a local IPSC march in Newry today to show solidarity with the people of Palestine after facing two years of genocide in Gaza. #GazaGenocide

Skinnider later became deeply involved in trade union activity, campaigning for equality of pay and conditions for women workers. Skinnider remained involved in trade union struggles until her retirement in 1963.
eirigi1916.bsky.social
Arrested on Christmas Day 1922, Skinnider was one of twelve republican women to embark on a hunger strike. The strike ended upon the transfer of the women from Mountjoy to the North Dublin Union internment camp.
eirigi1916.bsky.social
Skinnider was back in action during the Tan War and remained with the Republicans during the counter-revolution. Skinnider became the only woman to serve as quarter-master general of the IRA.
eirigi1916.bsky.social
Seriously wounded during the Rising, Skinnider was nursed by Markievicz in the College of Surgeons until the surrender, whereupon she was transferred to St. Vincent’s Hospital.
eirigi1916.bsky.social
Born in 1892 in Coatbridge, Scotland to Irish parents, Skinnider moved to Dublin in the run-up to the 1916 Rising.

Skinnider joined the Irish Citizen Army and showed her talents as a sharpshooter under the command of Michael Mallin and Constance Markievicz.

On this day in 1971, Margaret Skinnider - socialist republican, feminist, and the only woman wounded in action fighting the British during the 1916 Rising - died in Dublin.

We need to create a new secular, all-Ireland National Health Service that will provide high-quality healthcare to all citizens from the womb to the tomb. #ForANewRepublic

People’s health and people’s lives are quite literally sacrificed to protect the interests of insurance companies, elite medical practitioners and politicians!

Only the establishment of a new all-Ireland National Health Service will end this crisis!

Éirígí #ForANewRepublic sends our solidarity to the nurses in the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation (INMO) who will be starting their strike against unsafe working conditions next Monday, the 3rd of November, at Mayo University Hospital.

It seems that there’s only a cost of living crisis for ordinary people - corrupt TDs and landlord politicians certainly aren’t feeling the effects of it!

Éirígí is about the business of breaking the connection with capitalism and building a new socialist Republic.
eirigi1916.bsky.social
Why? Because of the establishment's fanatical belief in the ability of the private sector and the ‘free market’ to solve all problems.
eirigi1916.bsky.social
The Dublin government are intent on doing everything to make the cost of living crisis worse and only prop up landlords and the private sector!
eirigi1916.bsky.social
We simply can no longer afford the cost of capitalism! #CostOfCapitalism
eirigi1916.bsky.social
Thanks to the Twenty-Six County Government’s 2026 Budget, working families can look forward to having 2-4% less disposable income as the ‘cost-of-living ‘crisis deepens and state support is gutted. Meanwhile, the private sector will be laughing all the way to the bank! #CostOfLivingCrisis

We should recognise the same struggle when it happens elsewhere!
We call on the Dublin government to take a stand against the Gaza genocide!
eirigi1916.bsky.social
It is clear that this ‘famine’ engineered by Apartheid Israel is just another weapon in its assault against the Palestinian people - particularly attacking Gaza’s future.

Today, there are many parallels to Irish history in Palestine. When we remembrecognisest, it is not enough to mourn it!
