Children’s and Family Library Services Assistant Supervisor, runner, hiker, and lacking a bit of sleep.
Have spent the last week trying to get anyone to answer me at my school as to why I had a hold on my account. All I wanted to do was register - today the assistant director of my department managed to get the hold taken off. Few days late but was able to register. Things shouldn’t be this hard.

Went years and years without having to have prescriptions of any kind and then I hit my 50s and feel like I spend a good portion of my month waiting for this one or that one to be filled. 🙄

Librarians told 404 Media they're being inundated with new pitches for AI library tech and catalogs are being flooded with AI slop books.

But more broadly, AI maximalism across society is supercharging the ideological war on libraries, schools, government workers, and academics.
AI Is Supercharging the War on Libraries, Education, and Human Knowledge
"Fascism and AI, whether or not they have the same goals, they sure are working to accelerate one another."

If you and your children are not ready for a particular book, that is okay. It is not okay to limit the access to books, stories, and experiences for other families. Every book is not for everyone, but every book is for someone.

CO voters decide feeding kids is the right thing to do.
And in my county Douglas. Four progressive school board candidates with 36+ combined years of public education experience resoundingly beat four alt-right fear-mongering candidates with ZERO years of experience in education.

Working on a Lib Guide for school. Haven’t found a platform I understand all that much so starting by just writing the annotations so I can cut and paste later. Not due until the 16th so have time to figure out a blog post platform but makes me miss the days of Geocities.

I need someone to help figure out an actual Halloween costume next year. Or at least help me get my butt in gear at least a week before the actual day. 👻

Got both my COVID and Flu vaccines today - not sure how this will work out since I usually end up sick especially after the flu shot - but I have a fresh box of tissues, a cozy blanket and some hot chocolate packets. 😊

As a B-Day treat I’m trying Little Man ice cream for the first time. We bought a pint of banana pudding - according to some friends it’s one of the best flavors.

I haven’t used Zoom in forever but it’s the preferred method for making recordings for my school. Feel like I’m back in 2020.

Finished writing my first paper for my new semester - it’s not due until the 7th but I’ll be at a conference until the 5th and didn’t want to have to think about while I was there. Just need my proofreader aka my husband to read through it before I submit it.
