I never make intro posts because I always feel awkward about it but I’ve decided to do a 📌 here anyway since this is a new start on 🦋!

The night versions of the Toto’haha and Wildlands themes are also phenomenal

How amazing the music is made the dead silence during Journey for the Dawn all the more jarring and unnerving. A+ music direction all around

Similarly, I LOVE how each person’s theme was woven into the final confrontations with their main antagonist, and of those I love Temenos, Throne, and Osvald’s the most

In terms of the battle themes, the third version of the normal one is *chefs kiss*

Because it’s fresh in my mind, I have to blab about the music in OT2 because I was in awe the entire playthrough

The standouts for me:

All the character themes are SO GOOD and fit each person so well, but my favorites are Ochette, Partitio, Agnea, and Hikari’s

Such a neat touch to ensure every player’s experience is unique based on their choices! When I realized what was happening, it felt so satisfying

I do wish they had Hikari say SOMETHING before the final boss though. Given the… circumstances, it felt a bit unnatural only having your protag talk haha

I know there’s a superboss, but I’ve decided not to do it. The final boss was already pretty difficult for me (I managed to beat it first try though) and I’m not really interested in the prep required

I think I’ve done everything I want to do and it’s so bittersweet letting this game go 🥲

Throne and Osvald’s stories were definitely the most gutwrenching, but I think my favorites were Hikari and Temenos’ overall. Their connection to certain things at the end made my heart hurt (surprisingly, Partitio too…)

I finished Octopath 2!! I am. So happy and sad at the same time

All of the reveals in The Journey for the Dawn were WILD and my jaw was on the damn floor. I was once again like wtf???????? during all of it

But the camp scenes?? made me smile so much

I understand the implications and why he snapped, but it just felt a little too sudden. I was sitting there like “wtf????” in my head over and over during chapter 3 haha

Castti’s story outside of that was good though. The process of regaining her memories was engaging and a gutpunch in the end

I finished Castti’s story last night and… it was my least favorite so far because of the antagonist. I didn’t feel like he was executed very well, like there needed to be one more scene or even just one more line of dialogue to bridge the gap between fine and cackling insane nihilist

I loved Agnea’s more than I expected to. Her song being the final boss battle theme was so hype haha. It was also refreshing to have a “happier” story since the others get so grim

I’m working on Castii now, and am holding off on Ochette and Temenos’ final chapters. I plan on doing theirs last
