Anyone looking for a cute, kid friendly Halloween short story to read this Spooktober, look no further than "The Little Skeleton's First Halloween"! It was a lot of fun to write something outside of my usual niche, and write something for all ages! #booksky #spooky #halloween #spooktober #fall

Thank you! It was great fun to put together, especially with the fond memories behind it. She used to make up stories out of the whole cloth for me when I was a kid, and I loved every second of it.
I'm so excited for the horror stories I've been putting together. My homage to the cosmic horror of H.P Lovecraft, "The Valley of Terror" is shaping up nicely, and I just finished the first draft on a horror novella that I hope scares the pants off anyone who reads it! #booksky #horror #books
It's that time of year! If you want a cute, spooky short story to read, look no further than "The Little Skeleton's First Halloween"! It's a kid friendly short story I wrote inspired by the stories my mother used to tell me when I was a child. #books #spooky #booksky #halloween

To the person who bought a hardcover of "Dreams of the Witches Three"... I hope you enjoy the story! I always appreciate it when someone opts for the most expensive version of my book, and I hope they consider it money well spent! #writing #fantasy #books #booksky

I got some nice feedback on my covers for "Valley of Terror". I've made a couple tweaks to the one that's received the best response, and would love further feedback between the two versions. What does the booksky hive mind think?

Sure! But I will be upfront that I'm not in the market to hire anyone at the moment, so I won't be offended if you decide not to dedicate extra time with me when you could possibly find a paying customer elsewhere.
Wow, I should have slowed down on this one. Let this last post another lesson to anyone who sees it: check your work!

I post this not with the intention of mocking anyone, but to for anyone who sees this, hopefully help people feel more comfortable with their writing by better understanding what their options are.

Commas vs. Semicolons - Purdue OWL® - Purdue University
This resource offers a number of pages about comma use.

I get it. My English classes in school never properly explained semicolons to me either. I have the luxury of a retired newspaper editor in the family who was able to teach me these things and hammered the heck out of my grammar. For those who are struggling with this, here are a couple links...
If an agent is turned off by correct usage of a semicolon in the first, or ANY sentence, I don't want them as my agent, because, quite frankly, that means they're just illiterate.
I suspect this is a myth dreamed up by aspiring writers who don't understand how to use semicolons. (More below.)
PSA: There are a lot of myths which float around the writing community. I just ran into one where people believe that using a semicolon is "risky business", (especially in the first sentence.) because an agent "might get turned off by it".
The source I saw for this: Chat GPT.
(More below)
How would you go about making it more detailed?
Hello Booksky! I recently finished the second draft of my horror novelette, "The Valley of Terror" and I've put together three different covers. Which one do you like most? #booksky #horror #spooky #🪐📚💙#books #writing
Again, I'm finding that "The Little Skeleton's First Halloween" is seeing a surprising uptick in readers. If you want a spooky bedtime story for your child, "The Little Skeleton's First Halloween" has you covered!

Thank you! It was a fun little diversion from writing the epic fantasy book I published last year, and I'm planning on doing another one this year, plus a few more short stories of other types too.
Saw a video today about why being a 'hater' is a good thing. The video was interesting to a point, but the self-importance this self described "hater" placed upon herself was quite bizarre.
As composer Jean Sibelius famously said "there has never been a statue erected to a critic".

Don’t be afraid to share your writing. There are six Sharknado movies.
Don't forget: writing and telling our stories is supposed to be fun.

That might hurt at first, but if you're honest with yourself, you'll learn from it. Just don't listen to the people who sell you negativity, because the path to success is not laid with sorrow. It's laid with honest struggle, effort, and hope.
You need feedback you can act upon, feedback you can LEARN from, not just someone to tell you that your work is bad.
That being said: you do need to take your editor seriously. If they are editing in good faith, they are going to tell you what you NEED to hear, not what you WANT to hear.
Hot take: When getting your book edited, you don't want someone who will tear your work apart. The people who do that are not criticizing in good faith, they are criticizing to make themselves feel superior.
You want someone who will give you HONEST feedback, be it good or bad...
Excited to say that while book 3 is with my editor, I have started the first draft of book 4 of the 'Eyes of the Abyss' series! Here's the opening lines of the prologue:

The veil of chaos sought to devour the gods.
They answered with fire.
