Before FFXIV, before any of this, I was a kid reading about King Arthur in those abridged children's classics.
I grew up. Horrors abound. There are no knights who will save us.
But XIV let us play the heroes. Let us have reach beyond our limits. And sometimes, make other's days brighter too.

I think the thing about Cake Quest XIV edition is that it's fun and whimsy and exactly the kind of stuff they started skinning from the dungeons and main quests.
Maybe the grand majority of people who play MMORPGs don't care about mechanics. But I do and Cake Quest is deeply satisfying

Sometimes I think it's unrealistic to write Elish as being stuck behind a desk doing paperwork in a Fantasy feudal setting and then I proceed to send a morgbillion hours organizing my notebooks like a medieval scribe

The only thing I hope for in 8.0 is that XIV does something with it's entire heart and throat.
You're not going to get universal acclaim. Do something, anything, but put your entire heart and soul into it. Don't compromise.
