I really appreciate Peacemaker’s vulnerability in Season 2. When Chris asks Emelia if she truly feels nothing for him, when he tells her he’s in love with her, and when he admits he can’t stay away from the other dimension because he misses his brother—absolutely gutted me, so well done.

I’m still getting the hang of whatever my body’s doing (suspected dysautonomia, SFN biopsy soon!), and my new meds are helping a lot. I’m still struggling through every day, not gonna lie! I haven’t been writing (no energy), but I’m re-reading Looking Glass Sound (love anything Catriona Ward).

On the bottom of page 148, Catriona Ward writes, “Each layer deeper that I penetrate they take something from me. My name, at the gate. Then at the next checkpoint someone takes my sweater away—it’s beige and looks too much like the colour of the inmates’ uniforms. My possessions are stripped from me as I journey inwards towards him. It’s like being prepared for sacrifice.”

I love these lines. Wilder is on a spiritual journey, not just physical, as he processes what happened and self-actualizes. Healing trauma involves peeling back the layers, returning to the self. I love how Ward parallels it with the loss of self and humanity that inmates experience. Can this cold place be where Wilder finds closure? (I know the answer, of course, but I love the foreshadowing here.)

“This book sees a much older criminal (one of the 'for a good reason' types) released from jail, only to hook up with his younger cousin's adoptive sister. At some point it's discovered they are both connected to the same MC ... wow, heavy stuff.

“I did learn how to cut up and dispose of a body in the most vivid of details though so I'm adding to my skill set there. - it's worth a star though I now wish I DNF'd this book, truth be told.”

I’ve been on midodrine and modafinil together for a week now for what my neuro suspects is dysautonomia, and I’m cautiously optimistic. I’m experiencing less crashes and my blood pressure is stabilized. It’s crazy how many drugs I need to animate my corpse, but I’ll take it.

When I was in high school, I made out with a guy my age whose dad was a cop. He tried to take my pants off and when I said no, he told everyone I was a whore. A few years later, I heard he got kicked out of college for sexually assaulting someone. Today I learned he’s now a cop.
