I had a similar experience with my partners family as I'm the first trans person they've experienced. As soom as they saw me and obertime some attitudes they had towards trans people have shifting in such a good way.

They treat me as their daughter in law.

Frfr! I think mateship in the country has for the better evolved to include way more than it used to. I also think peoples attitudes have changed and they realise a lot of lgbtqia+ rights and freedoms don't actually affect them negatively.
