Switched to Ellipsus early last year for writing. Zero regrets. Easy to use, easy to share, easy to work with someone. Fun themes, drafts, templates, organization. Plus their stance on Ai mirrors mine.
Let’s set the record straight: the em dash doesn’t belong to ChatGPT. Gen AI has been around for two years—the em dash has been around for centuries. History time! 🧵👇 [1/11]

"Once upon a time, Google 'wasn't evil.' Now it's too big not to be. When a company has this much power—too embedded to boycott, too rich to punish, too essential to regulate—it becomes a monster of itself, mowing down anything that stands in the way of profit." 🧵👇

Even so, the deepening entanglement of AI with traditional writing apps is a net bad for writers and everyone who values human work. The enshittification wheel keeps on turning (next step, removing the "Opt-out" feature entirely 🤪).

I switched to it about 8/9 months ago and I don't regret it at all (and honestly the character limit here won't let me praise their progressive stances enough)

Trying to stay positive. Everything might be on fire, but I can take some small joy in fully switching from Docs over to Ellipsus

It’s only been a few days, but I just feel so much better??? My work feels safer, and isn’t lagging??

Little things to keep ya goin.

As an editor, it's actually been really disquieting to see people decide that polished writing and grammar are "AI tells." I saw a whole discussion about how humans don't actually use em dashes because "no one knows how to type them" (alt+0151).

The thing is, short of consulting the metadata, there's really no way to tell what's gen-AI and what's not. Trying to 'sniff out' gen-AI like this is problematic at best; at worst, it does harm to writers 🧵👇 [1/10]

As someone who was already accused of using AI on my fic writings and edits... THIS!

I can attest that it IS damaging to people and creatives to just toss out accusations willy-nilly with "evidence" (some possibly outdated or non-existent) to back them up.
