Went on a little gothic mental health walk after dark, when suddenly, this orange furball darts in front of me, demanding pets. Who am I to refuse? After he got the requisite amount of affection from me, he went on his way. 🐱🧡

I have a story coming out this December in Issue 99 of @fantasymagazine.bsky.social, and it’s all the more bittersweet knowing that this beautiful magazine is going on hiatus after that. Please support the independent magazines and presses that you love, however you can. This is the only way.

New story day! My twisted fairy tale, “Head of the Household,” is in the winter issue of F(r)iction.

Koschei the Deathless, Slavic folklore’s baddest bad, has met his match in Ira: a mortal woman with a clever plan to take him down. At stake? Ira’s best friend’s freedom. Warning: contains gluten 🥖🩸
Head of the Household - F(r)iction
Kristina Ten presents the story of a woman preparing for her high-stakes marriage to an evil immortal lord.

Oh hey! My story "My Mother is the Water" is available to read online in F(r)iction latest issue. This is a story inspired by the lakes of my hometown, about a girl called to the water yet doesn't want to leave the aunt who raised her.

Oh well. My work is already unsummarizable, surreal, and strange for humans, so I was basically born to be an all-around LLM nightmare
Saw a post today that advised writers to stop writing as if a human will read it and start writing for an LLM that will be summarising.

As someone who really enjoyed trying to develop a peculiar but readable authorial voice, I find this incredibly depressing.

Like @lpkindred.bsky.social, I went back to to school while working full time and it is NOT for the faint of heart, it is so hard. So donate if you can! Let's get this gofundme over the finish line 🙌

A Megha story is always full of gorgeous language and surprises that will make your head spin and the story impossible to forget ❤️
"Salt Slough" is a story folded into an academic paper trapped into another story by the paper’s footnotes. It is a sentient lagoon. It is a researcher who sees beneath what their eyes show them. Not entirely by choice. Things bloom. Sometimes everywhere.

I’m so out of it, my self-promo has plunged into a ravine of nothingness, even while I had a brand new story come out exactly two weeks ago in @blaft.bsky.social's deliciously bizarre new anthology, Bandigoat: A Collection of Strange & Horrible Tales! So let me tell you a little bit about it. 👁️🌿

This was Celeste's Week 5 story at Clarion West, and I remember the experience of reading it for the first time, like it was yesterday. A specific sense of wonder and awe at what Celeste was doing on the page, the sharpness and brilliance and joy of it.
We are heartbroken to hear about the passing of Celeste Rita Baker, a wonderful writer and human. It was our joy and privilege to publish her story “Me and Seed Sheself” in our magazine in 2022. Our deepest condolences to her loved ones, may she rest in peace. www.khoreomag.com/fiction/me-a...

“Glass Bottle Dancer” was the very first story I read at Clarion West. I was the youngest student there; Celeste was the oldest, and she’d just written the most goddamn incredible story in like two days, and for a little while I was like, what the fuck am I doing here?
Heartbroken to say the least. My dear friend and CW classmate Celeste Rita Baker has passed away. Words aren't enough to describe what an amazing, talented, warm, and loving human being she was. The world is so much emptier now. 💔

@ Clarion West, during critique of this story, Celeste called me out, "Monte drew a roach with his feedback!" w/ gust

I think I said, "But... you wrote about them!"

But Celeste had her usual wide smile and (I remember) her laughter; she'd mess w/ you yet you knew where you stood w/ her
