Sparring

The sound of clashing steel and roaring thunder filled the empty night. He propped himself up, his body shaking from the fatigue. Lifting his head up, he stared down the man above. Sparks danced across his cheek, illuminating a smile that looked down upon the pupil below.

“You know, rescue missions and exploration work is way harder than this. If this tussle is enough to bring you to your knees, I don’t think dungeon work is for you. So, are you ready to throw in the towel?”

With labored breathes, he stands once again, clutching the cold staff in his hand. The question didn’t really matter to either of them, as they both know the answer. Despite his body aching all over, the fire in his eyes burned fervently. With a sigh, he lifted himself up as electricity coursed though the baton. The two Pokemon locked eyes as they lunged at each other, only the night sky witnessing their final clash.

(Hey y’all! Remember that RPG thing I did a WHILE back? Yeah, here’s one for my Raichu OC, Raiden. Anyways have a good night!)

In terms of how the game works, I was thinking it may use a turn-based system akin to old school Final Fantasy. Each character and enemies have something called “Action Progress”, with the character’s being visible to the player. The main stat that affects the bar is the character’s speed. The faster the character, the quick the bar fills and the faster they take a turn. Various debuffs or status conditions could affect the speed of the bar, or perhaps stops the bar for a short while.

(Raiden)
Sword: Raiden’s attacks have a chance to place “Entrapment” on the enemy, along with adjacent enemies. When Raiden attacks an enemy with “Entrapment”, any other enemies with “Entrapment” will receive some damage.

Dagger: Raiden’s attacks have a chance to place “Entrapment” on the enemy. When Raiden lands a crit on an enemy with “Entrapment”, change the debuff into “Ensnarement”. Raiden’s attacks have increased crit chance against enemies with “Entrapment” or “Ensnarement”.

Shield: Raiden gains the ability “Bear Trap”. Using the ability causes Raiden to shift aggro towards himself. Raiden takes reduced damage in this state. When hit, Raiden counterattacks, dealing some damage and placing “Entrapment” on the enemy.

Staff: Raiden gains the ability “Tripwire”. Using the ability causes targeted allies to gain the “Tripwire” buff. Allies with “Tripwire” take reduced damage, with some of the damage being allocated to Raiden’s HP. Allies with “Tripwire” have a chance to inflict “Entrapment” when dealing damage to an enemy.

Tome: Raiden can directly apply “Entrapment” using its respective action. When using “Entrapment” on an enemy with “Entrapment”, change the debuff into “Ensnarement”. Enemies with “Entrapment” or “Ensnarement” will receive DEF and MG RES reduction. Any attacks by Raiden and allies will have increased crit chance against enemies with “Entrapment” or “Ensnarement”.

Behind the scenes stuff, but I was originally going to tag this as “suggestive”. Nothing about it is explicitly suggestive, or at least hints at it. Idk some of my other stuff felt like that too, so I tagged them. It really is one of those things that is context-specific, y’know? (Hey y’all! I’ve been a bit busy this week, but I still wanted to draw. So I doodled some hypothetical cafe food based on my characters! I should draw food more often, seeing how much I enjoy food. Anyways, have a great night!)

Sweet n Sour Apple Set
A two-for-one special! A light and sweet custard jelly with a caramel center, topped with chocolate pieces and apple slices. Paired with a vanilla sponge cake with a tangy green apple syrup, wearing some chocolate shades.

Emerald’s Raspberry & Chocolate Cake Slice
A thick slice of layered sponge cake dotted with bits of chocolate and raspberry jam. Plated with a powdered raspberry zigzag and a dollop of whipped cream with a little chocolate squeeze bottle.

Sol’s Cookie Toolbox
Three warm snickerdoodle cookies and a medley of fresh fruits. Accompanied by three dips (milk chocolate, hot honey, vanilla frosting) for mixing and taste testing.

Rai’s Orange Jelly Cake
A big orange jelly topped with condensed milk, chocolate syrup, and chocolate orange slices. Underneath lies a sponge cake dome filled with an orange and popping candy sauce.
