Can we stop with the nonsense that olive oil was unknown in the uk 40/50/60 years ago? It’s simply not the case. Mrs Breton describes it as a salad oil in 1861. Delicatessens were a thing. Valvona & Crolla opened in Edinburgh in 1934.
We had olive oil. Not as much or as widespread, but we had it.
