Incredible article on the problems of citizenship in the aftermath of empire and refugees’ use of air travel to carve out a space for themselves between exclusionary and conflicting immigration regimes.

Our new series of short videos showcases the work of our interdisciplinary experts in HaSS Cornwall at @exeter.ac.uk .

The latest features Emma Kluge on how our Environmental Humanities research and teaching reorients our historical and political narratives from the perspective of the ocean.

Our historical narratives are often centred on land, but what happens if we shift our perspective to oceans? How might this shape our environmental and political imaginaries? Join us at @hass-cornwall.bsky.social as we plunge into the past to navigate new futures.

Creating a 'spare parts' document for writing I'm not yet willing to cut is still my most effective way of killing my darlings while doing revisions. Do I ever put these things back into the text? No. Do I need to pretend that I might? Yes, every time.

I wrote this article in conversation with Claudia B. Haake whose article focused on Wampum in Iroquois Diplomatic Petitions of the Removal Era in the 19th century and Miranda Johnson who explored Māori Petitions and the late-19th Century Colonial State.

In my article, I demonstrate how I use West Papuan petitions sent to the UN to create a counter-narrative of global governance in the era of decolonisation and to nuance existing accounts of the Act of Free Choice by incorporating local voices and experiences. www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10....
