A spectacular example of the last flowering of perpendicular architecture, built in the 15th C to be the spiritual home of the Order of the Garter and the burial place of monarchs.

A mix of ancient and modern, the Nave at St Edmundsbury Cathedral dates from 1503 while the Millennium Tower dominating the skyline of the town was completed in 2005.

A church has stood on the site of the cathedral since at least 1065, when St Denis's Church was built.

On the Westerly point in Wales is St Davids Cathedral

Originally a monastery founded by St David, in 1123 papal privilege was bestowed upon the cathedral and this made it a focus for pilgrims. Today pilgrims come in 1000s, still finding this one of the world’s ‘thin’ places

The present building of @southwarkcathedral.bsky.social dates from the 13th-century. Surrendered to King Henry VIII in 1539, it subsequently became the parish church of St Saviour’s.

Cathedral status was granted when the Anglican diocese of Southwark was formed in 1905.
