It’s fascinating how the British were organised enough to lead the industrial revolution and conquer the globe when they can’t even agree what side of the footpath you’re meant to walk on.
Calling the Brackets a "communication tool" is so smart.
Lastly, it's wild that you have long-time and successful players like Javier Dominguez who won't have the chance to be inducted into the Hall of Fame. A two-time Magic World Champion, no less.
I genuinely hope the Hall of Fame returns some day. Presitege and recognition is something competitive players will always strive for in Magic. Not to mention, the Hall of Fame was a unique way to market competitive play and celebrate the players who saw the most success.
It always felt a bit weird when watching Pro Tour and Worlds coverage and hearing about a player who's in the Hall of Fame - it's like, what does the comment actually achieve in terms of marketing and profiling when the system doesn't currently exist?
Now thinking about it, my biggest gripe with this announcement is how Hall of Famers can play in it but the Hall of Fame doesn't currently exist.

Grandfathering benefits for Hall of Famers is fine enough, but it would be better if players could work towards achieving this status long-term.

Wizards did this a while ago with Challenger Decks, and they're kind of coming back with Lorwyn Eclipsed in Theme Decks. They're Standard playable, but aimed towards newer players who want to play competitively rather than having something with tournament pedigree from the get-go.
I think padding these out a week from each other (or even two weeks) would do more to profile and market the Magic Spotlight Series overall (which remember, is a growing thing). It was actually an issue in the SCG Open and GP era, there was too much going on and it was actually hard to follow along.
The other is that I don't like having two Magic Spotlight Series events happening on the same weekend. I understand the concept as it is tied to a specific set, but can cause tension when it comes to marketing, coverage, and even the winner of these events as they don't get the limelight as much.

No major changes to the Brackets this time, but we've been working on clarifying some of the ~*vibes~* around each Bracket, including adding "safe turns" and delineating expectations for decks, win conditions, and gameplay.

We've also removed tutor restriction from 1 & 2.
The only criticisms I have regarding the Spotlight Series is there should be a few more supporting the Modern format in 2026 (this is specific to Europe, we're always hungry for Eternal Magic). It also sets up the TOs for success this way, which is unlikely to happen with the upcoming Standard ones.
We're never going back to the "SCG Opens and GPs every weekend" competitive era as it's just not sustainable, but it's encouraging we're getting more competitive events and more ways to qualify for the higher-profile ones.
It's always cool to see more different ways to qualify for Worlds.

It's also cool to see the competitive side of things grow, it's coming along nicely since the post-Lockdown Era. Remember, Wizards have had to rebuild and even the Spotlight Series events are growing year-on-year, too.

Really believe there's a bit of a silent earthquake underway in terms of how Google distributes search clicks. Not a volume drop due to summaries/AI either (though that exists), but in where & how the remaining clicks are delivered. Feels big, but will take time for the ensuing tsunami to make shore
Yeah, I was counting the points when drafting. Felt good. πŸ˜‚
Value Vintage is next on my list. That Post deck is extremely my jam. It's nice to play with banned Pauper cards πŸ˜‚
