Lining his pockets at taxpayer expense, Trump wants 3,500 times what an average American earns yearly. Put another way, it equals all the income taxes paid by the citizens of 2 average size towns.

Of course Trump would pardon Santos, he’s an infamous liar. The President has no empathy for cancer patients, bankrupted farmers , government workers, and he hates people of color, but a fabulist is an ally.

Putin flatters Trump and dangles emoluments under his nose, thus removing the U.S. as a foe of his invasion and his expansion plans. A cheap date for the Russian bear, these Republicans.

Two years ago, FBI Director Kash Patel wrote this about using troops against protesting U.S. citizens

"Nobody wants the president to have unilateral authority to deploy military troops within America as he pleases. That’s a recipe for tyranny.”

There's a word for all this: Authoritarianism

www.seattletimes.com/opinion/edit...

Terrific editorial by The Seattle Times advising readers to resist Trump’s authoritarianism with a sidebar on how to do it. I’d add that, if you can, subscribe to the paper. Kudos to them.
There's a word for all this: Authoritarianism | Editorial
The United States has slipped into authoritarianism, leading to the essential question for those who feel uneasy or opposed: What are you going to do about it?

ABC was created in 1943 because of an effort by the FCC to break up a radio monopoly. The new network was a breath of fresh air, and our country was at war with fascists. Anti-fascism was a patriotic cause, and it still is. But ABC has now turned on our country for the sake of a merger. How ironic.

The framers of our Constitution did not want the President to decide who gets to speak freely. For the sake of our future all of us must get loud about this. Not violent. Just loud. If the Red Coats can silence Jimmy Kimmel over a merger, they’ll be in your house soon, gagging you. Get loud.

I predict Trump voters will split along these lines: The transactional types versus the mean ones. One side hoped for lower taxes and prices, and it isn't going well. The others will always be thrilled by Trump's daily bluster. Offer voters beneficial governance and most will reject useless cruelty
August 13, 2025 at 4:04 PM
Donald Trump revels in meanness. How does his daily malevolence play on main street, with normal people? Most Americans, if provided with evidence, will lean toward goodwill over heartlessness. That is (partly) why American prosecutors prevail ninety percent of the time.
August 13, 2025 at 3:58 PM
“Give us this day our daily threat…” Uh, no thanks. Polls show mainstream Americans are shying away from this vindictive President, his attack dogs and bulging billionaires. He’s all about threats and firings, not progress. The federal government is getting more dysfunctional, not less.
