I find myself so angry at Democrats because - with the left fully opposing them - they placated, accepted republican framing of immigration, social, and crime policy, pushed for the funding of a genocide, and claimed the “center”

We are now left with legitimately nothing except creeping fascism.

So far today, Chuck Schumer has said his strategy for preventing Trump sending troops into blue cities is to win over Republican senators (!) while Hakeem Jeffries praised Eric Adams's courage and authenticity (!!) while refusing to endorse Mamdani. Again.

I guess in this rambling I’m not blaming the absolute fear coming out of this because when you look at the whole picture - transphobic and violent policy is happening at an alarming rate. Be as weary as you need to be but let’s take care of each other and be clear about what’s coming.

If the version proposed by the heritage foundation is passed word for word - I would have more grave concern for infrastructure pieces of support for the community being subjugated to litigation and rapid defunding, as this administration has shown a propensity to.

If this does get announced as new policy - it could be used as groundwork for other pretty nefarious policy pieces - so it will be important to watch cascading. Like the dismantlement of state level protections or content moderation on college campuses.

This is a great thread to go into the depths of what we now know. I don’t know how much it will ease anxieties but it’s pretty dire without panicking or misreading.

What I would add is that if your state is already passing anti-trans laws, this coupled with that could be incredibly damaging.

The right calling for a full scale dismantlement of the left, with language qualifying leaders as “domestic terrorists” is the biggest sign that the American constitutional system is nearing its end. It’s time for the Democratic leaders to act accordingly

The escalation of anti-trans propaganda will lead to violence against trans people - which is at historic highs and actively being concretized by government officials. No matter how fabricated; the anti-trans ecosystem takes often incorrect or incomplete stories and spins them to absolute truths.
