That #cbj loss isn’t totally on Jet, but that Flames win is totally on Wolf

Well, the Columbus establishment can rest easy a little longer - Vogel is down about 1500 votes with 99% precincts reporting.

As in the primary, Vogel handily wins District 7 but narrowly loses citywide, thanks to the city’s ridiculous fake ward system. Time for real electoral reform in this city!
I think this moment is mostly for the sentimental aspect, but I’m completely serious when I say if #Crew96 were to somehow make a deep run, I think we’ll need a few important minutes from him at some point. Still basically the only physical defender we have.

HOLY SHIT IT'S RUDY FUCKING CAMACHO #Crew96
Him + Picard + Max on that left flank has been especially fun to watch.
The difference between 0G/0A for Picard and 0G/0A for Gazdag is that Picard makes this team immediately, noticeably more dangerous. He has already established great chemistry (esp with Taha and Max), and understands the style of play instantly.
Two top ten posers down by 4p. Good-looking Saturday.
The stats aren't particularly kind, but that Grunkmeyer kid should be proud of how he played. Showed some moxie and made some nice throws.

Let’s be clear, most EBT users are white. The reason he’s specifically lying about “weaves” and we’ve seen so many AI fakes of Black women ranting about food stamps is they need to make BW the face EBT because they know many Americans don’t care if Black people suffer, and some actually wish for it.
ROB SCHMITT: People are using SNAP benefits to get their nails done, to get their weaves and their hair. This is a really ugly program.

SEN. RON JOHNSON: That program needs to be dramatically reformed.
Awesome story. And I suppose it kind of tracks that a prophet’s theology might (appear) inconsistent?

Were you ever a Mewithoutyou fan? Unorthodox Anabaptist church full of eccentrics in Philadephia(?) sounds like the sort of joint Aaron Weiss would have been a part of
The word “dystopian” gets thrown around a lot, but this legitimately qualifies and is BAD bad.
New incredible detail here: ICE says a match in its facial recognition app Mobile Fortify is a "definitive" determination of a person's status, and that this overrides birth certificates. This is an app ICE is using in the field to scan people

That’s true. I appreciate that Nancy tried him all over the place (including RWB and CM), but his stubbornness to keep starting him (à la Philip Quinton) may have worked against him. He has looked much better off the bench imo. Not ideal for a DP, but it takes the pressure off and gets him going.
Apparently giving the cool pope a jersey is now accepted local custom.

Lo, his holiness trembles, at the thought of the unholy nightmare of a custom-designed Andres Mendoza jersey he’d get from @supportersupply.co if he ever set foot in Ohio
No, I’m pro-Herrera and thought we should have locked him up in the spring.

I appreciate the creativity of getting River Plate to extend him, but I don’t understand waiting until June to have those conversations and letting his visa lapse as a result. Was a big deal because of the Farsi injury.
Losing McGuiness is tough, I’ll give Tall that.

But I think a lot of fans are giving him a TON of leeway because he worked with Bez.

MLS is a tough job. You HAVE to hit on your DP’s, and get creative with depth. Can’t screw stuff up like the Herrera extension and paying for the unused intl slot
Time will tell on Gazdag. What if it’s not the yips? What if the scouting wasn’t solid?

People have this assumption that Nancy can elevate anybody, but it’s an unfair expectation (see: Dejuan Jones). Maybe Jim Curtain played the perfect system for Gazdag’s skill set?
I don’t think it’s fair to expect perfection from a GM, and rosters can have cycles. But to John’s point, this team has gotten demonstrably worse under Tall’s 1.5 year tenure.

The only reason the heat was on (hence the reactionary signing +ext) was because he did nothing in 2 straight windows!
Who is to blame for Gazdag besides the guy who paid $4.5M for him, watched him play 3 extremely shitty games, and then wrote him a check for $7.5M more?

I agree the general consensus was it was a good move, but in the fanbases’ defense, we’re not paid a shitload of money to get this stuff right.
Is there a remotely-plausible argument that the Gazdag signing increased our points on the year?

The guys he directly took playing time from (AZ Jackson and JRR) both finished with higher xG/90, and the advanced metrics are all close.

If anything he made our team worse by preventing development.
I think it’s a little unfair to say it’s totally by choice. It’s also the result of an inexperienced GM panicking!

We were always going to sell Cucho. Selling him cheap and late was rough

Panic-signing Gazdag was even rougher.
Doubling down and extending him early was mind-numbing!
Just so we're clear...

#Crew96 could have signed the 2nd most expensive player in the league (who has contributed 9G/3A in 806 min) for only $11mil.

Instead, we got a dud in Gazdag (4G/4A in 2067 min), the fatally late arriving & ultimately injured Ali (3G/1A in 304min), and no defense signings.
The MLSPA's salary release is out. LAFC's Son Heung-Min is second only to Lionel Messi in terms of salary. Inter Miami continues to lap most of the field in terms of total spend. Average and median salaries league-wide continue to creep up. More details here.
