I had this exact color when I was a kid and I was very disappointed to learn not all computers looked like this

God Cataclysm scared the hell out of me when I was a kid, it was so good! A common opinion thankfully, it makes me feel sane. I bet homeworld 3 would have been much better regarded if it had come out 5 years prior when that kind of thing was sliding a lot lol. Glad we don't live in that universe

It's a real bittersweet feeling when you've got to be kinda happy a series didn't stick around long enough to be ruined by an awful sequel many years later. Homeworld immediately comes to mind, and funnily enough we have gearbox in both instances lol

Hilarious peace of Half Life 2 development lore that involves a bug that traveled back in time from @tomforsyth.bsky.social

Really nostalgic having had a late friend who loved modding old games, running into things like this. Every #gamedev should read this!

Well it seems like it's all we really have to go on either way since there's no proof one way or the other. That was the initial contention, I was saying that of course it's technically possible, regardless of if they're actually doing it

- I get a cool systems idea
- I try to build it
- It's Broken
- I try to understand why
- I debug for 100 years
- I reach the natural end of my life
- I die
- I'm reborn anew, a sweating fresh and pure
- I forget what I was trying to make
- Repeat from beginning

Ah I didn't remember Volition was the one that made it. Now I'm sad all over again
November 23, 2025 at 8:46 PM
The only one I saw that had info that makes sense is the one that claims they would be sued into oblivion for violating privacy laws in such a manner, but I don't think that's convincing enough to discount the possibility because the training of AI data is a grey zone legally. It might not count
November 23, 2025 at 8:42 PM
Sure but these companies have been scrapping the bottom of the barrel for training data, seems like active communication from confirmed people to other confirmed people via text would be exactly where they'd go. I don't think this is a good reason to discount the possibility
November 23, 2025 at 8:40 PM
Then hell yeah I live for that kind of thing! Too few games to this day realize the amount of potential they already have to tell stories, It's one of the main things I advise when I'm working on a project
November 23, 2025 at 8:06 PM
I get your point here I'm just not seeing why this wouldn't be technically possible? I mean they have all the emails right?
November 23, 2025 at 8:02 PM
I'M NEVER USING VLC MEDIA PLAYER EVER AGAIN IT JUST RANDOMLY DESTROYED A REALLY IMPORTANT VIDEO I AM SO SAD. All that remains is a 160 byte file with the same name...

Right? I can't stand the sound of my voice so theres no way I'm going to listen to that jerk, past Erik, with the shitty voice. He sounds bad and thus his ideas are bad
November 23, 2025 at 7:36 PM
Now if only I could convince a publisher of that last part!
November 23, 2025 at 6:56 PM
I feel like Arc Raiders won't last because it's too friendly. The systems in place mean there's not much reason to actually do PvP and the tension surrounding the danger of PvP is core to the appeal of the genre.

It's success shows primarily that people are desperate for a good extraction game
November 23, 2025 at 6:55 PM
I really never paid this game much mind as I hadn't heard much about it but sounds like I gotta give it a try
November 23, 2025 at 6:52 PM
AI companies realize their only viable business model is convincing governments to subside them, so a huge amount of their marketing exists to trick politicians into thinking AI is of critical importance to their national security 'like the Manhattan project.' www.reuters.com/legal/transa...

I'm listening... For a very small game you could do a direct recreation of this story honestly. But I know a story my mom told me about illegal treasure hunters in Mexico who were pretending to be fishermen so they could search the area of a Spanish shipwreck
November 23, 2025 at 6:29 PM
Right? I've been loving it
November 22, 2025 at 4:11 AM
I'm not too surprised someone would say that. Dungeon Grandpa fans way overstate the quality of this game lol. Frankly I don't like any of them much but I found 2's characters more compelling. Can't wait to see what you think of 3! Lmao
November 20, 2025 at 7:49 AM
10x better than the original though
November 20, 2025 at 5:57 AM
Oh my god happy birthday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
