It's genuinely a bad look on you to go out of your way to try to start a conversation with a client trying to force or even guilt them into paying you for a commission. I have a shitty health situation and I am sure some people comm me out of guilt but I never solicit them.

Now can you enjoy doing your WORK? Yes, there's such a thing in this world, though you don't hear or see much of it lately anymore.

On the other end of the spectrum are artists that go out and solicit for commissions in people's DM's because they need the money. Don't do that either.

Negotiation of prices only works if the artist is offering to do that in the first place. Flat rates are there usually at the bare minimum they feel they need to make ends meet. Especially if the artist uses it as their sole source of income.

Making art is still WORK it isn't just a playtime.
