Wrapping up our day is Koldo Casla, discussing some of the ideas of his forthcoming book. He's tackling the complex question of property and social rights. Notes the differing philosophical and political foundations to different regimes. Proposes a social right to property - complex and nuanced.

Next up is Rishika Saghal (presenting work co-auth with Gautam Bhatia). Discussing how the right to housing is often assessed by the courts in India. Sometimes meaningful engagement, but sometimes uncritical acceptance of 'torts' (nuissance etc) to evict. Use recent cases to demonstrate.

Katie Boyle discussing a detailed discourse analysis approach to social rights and social justice language. Notes the emancipatory potential of legal language. Discusses their justoce journey mountain range, where the there are several hurdles to overcome to achieve justice.

Rebecca Munro now discussing her paper evaluating the effectiveness of the Special Rapportuer state visits. Her works shows how a different sort of NGO/ individual engages with SR than the TBs. Bridges: more local, more ability to influence the report. Also adds an element of attention/ media.

Back after lunch and we have Philip Oamen dicussing the sometimes forgotten impact of corruption on social rights. He highlights the multiple forms that corruption takes, as well as the myriad ways of defining it. Progresses to trace the implications of corruption upon ESR rights.

Last in the session is Poonam Shokar discussing the issue of intent within the doctrone of non-retrogression. She undertakes an empirical analysis of State approaches to understand their intent. Looks across gvts, with a particular focus on housing.

Rodolfo Gutiérrez Silva next discussing judicial approaches to the rights of older persons in three Latin American justidictions. He compares the intensity of supervision, the accessibility of remedies. He makes v interesting links between the national, regional and international.

First Up Clare James discussing the interweaves between antimocrobial resistance and human rights. She raises questions of the different rights implicated in AMR. Intesity of food production. Intergenerational fairness. Past problems with eg Pesticides.
