in swedish, the demonym for the people of sápmi is the one previously used for the greek island of samos (🇸🇪 "same")
this led to protests when trying to phase out the racist term 🇸🇪 "lapplänning" / 🇬🇧 "laplander", bc academics were like "these reindeer herders are stealing clout from pythagoras 😭" lol

UPDATE: turns out i didn't need to do this because 2-color BMP files apparently store color in a bitwise format too 🙃 and no conversion is necessary
