Sad news about Jane Goodall. She was an inspiration to me growing up and I feel so fortunate that I was able to meet her when she received an honorary degree from SFU in 2018. She was truly a legend.

Thanks for the info - and apologies if this is a dumb question - I just don't know what you mean with "which likely reflects the use of temperature sensitive components"? In a simple Gal4>UAS cross we generally don't have additional 'ts' components.

Question for fly folks - we talk about using Gal4 drivers at different temps to get more UAS-driven expression at higher and reduced at lower. In PMID: 12324939 Duffy states the following but give no reference for the statement (see pic). Is it just more active?

They do a candidacy exam once in the PhD stream, but that is the same for anyone - even those who do come already with an MSc. So there is no requirement per se, but at many unis you don't enter right into the PhD program.

Hi Zoe, writing from Canada 🇨🇦. Many of our universities have entry into the MSc program as a first step, but most students who want to do a PhD transfer in their 2nd year without having to write a thesis.
