This was from a weekly challenge we ran at Art Corner years ago, & it’s a great exercise to help you cement what you’re observing and learning through studies of other artists, even plein air or photos. The task is to copy the reference & then add or change elements 🎨 Step 2 following in replies
The study I did of the original reference painting, a portrait by Yuliya Litvinova. A man with short messy hair, wearing a shirt & waistcoat. The painting has an overly yellow tint, and very graphically defined planes and shapes
Here’s step 2, with the added/edited changes. The reason this works is because it forces you to think about the colours and textures you choose, and the value/detail structure of the composition when you have to generate something new to fit into it convincingly
Stage 2 of my study of a portrait by Yuliya Litvinova, where I have changed the hairstyle, swapped out the clothes for a crumpled T-shirt, added a beard and some fx

I made Tronsonas as a belated birthday gift & congratulations on a shipped title for @whatrobindoes.bsky.social who worked on the Catalyst character lineart with me 💖
Two female Tron characters, inked drawing against a graphic Tron identity disc background. One is dressed in a casual style of armoured clothing with sneakers & a ponytail, the other is sophisticated and sultry in a wrap around dress, holding up a disc. @mikebithell.bsky.social I finally finished it :) thanks for all your patience, kindness, and consideration along the way, I have always appreciated & admired your collaborative & encouraging critiques and how good your graphic design makes my art look 😂 You’re a good egg <3
Someone gave me advice recently to try giving yourself a little dopamine treat first, not after, if your executive functioning or avoidance is kicking in or making you tired when faced with a task. So I think your problem is not enough chocolate 🍫
Haha nah it’s just shorter projects and commissions for the next little while :)
Not official licensed art, but a tribute to a fun era & opportunity to say thank you to the amazing ppl at @bithellgames.bsky.social who all share an infectious passion for the craft & always made me feel part of the team on our projects together over the years. All the very best for what’s next 💖

That one gets me every time too. I believe the correct spelling is “heihachi”
If Anfinn is doing something he shouldn’t and needs a reset you can just blow in his face, so he’s either a NES or one of those keychains that make fart sounds
After watching too many reels on nervous system regulation how to’s, I have to conclude that yes our bodies kind of are machines, but not complex ones. I can enhance brain-hemisphere coordination (through engaging the body's bilateral symmetry) by tapping my shoulders. I am, at best, a CRT telly.
