🎥 Watch our video featuring guest speakers Michaela and Francesca, both living with type 1 diabetes and members of EDENT1FI’s Patient Advisory Committee. They believe that while early detection may not yet prevent diabetes, it can change how it begins.

📅 Join us on November 4 for a special event co-organised with EDENT1FI and hosted by MEP Stine Bosse. We’ll discuss the daily burden of diabetes, its impact on individuals, families, and communities, and why early detection matters.

🫂 Most importantly, it can offer a “soft landing” - a gentler transition into life with diabetes, with earlier access to psychological and emotional support.
eudiabetesforum.bsky.social
💡But there is hope.

Early detection of type 1 diabetes can prevent DKA, giving individuals and families time to understand the disease, explore early interventions that may delay insulin dependence, and participate in research.
eudiabetesforum.bsky.social
The emotional toll is real. Diabetes distress, burnout, depression, anxiety are unfortunately common, and often overlooked.

A late diagnosis of type 1 diabetes can be traumatic, frequently occurring during a medical emergency like diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA).

Each day, people with diabetes make up to 180 more health-related decisions than those without the disease. These include monitoring blood glucose, deciding when and how to administer insulin, choosing what to eat, and planning physical activity.

🧠 Today is #WorldMentalHealthDay — a powerful reminder that mental well-being is just as important as physical health, especially for those living with chronic diseases like #diabetes.

💙 Living with diabetes is a full-time job.

💬 We heard inspiring updates from our partners across work packages and were truly amazed by the incredible work being done at screening sites.

💡 Join us to explore the latest progress in biomarker testing, awareness efforts, and policy recommendations to ensure EU health systems are ready to deliver innovative treatments equitably.

The event will feature powerful testimonies from people living with T1D and their hopes for the future.

🩸 Type 1 diabetes (#T1D) is a lifelong autoimmune disease with rising prevalence across Europe. While insulin therapy enables survival, it doesn’t treat the root cause. Promising disease-modifying therapies (DMTs) could revolutionise care - but early detection is key.

Organised under the auspices of the Danish Presidency of the Council of the EU 2025, in collaboration with our partners from EDENT1FI, the event is hosted by MEP Stine Bosse and moderated by Prof. Chantal Mathieu.
