there's kind of an existential argument here tbh because a federal crackdown on states that have legalized marijuana would be so unpopular that before you saw a federal regime do such a thing you'd be waaaaaay past the point of said regime caring about what is and isn't legal

It's fake in the way that the California speed limit is fake until you're more than 15 over it. Federal enforcement has so much friction that they only move on charges that are worth their time.

and licensed fuel alcohol production. It's not nearly enough of a market that Amazon would worry about it if they cared seriously about carrying items used for illegal purposes. To put a real point on it, they only don't carry bongs because Visa and Mastercard don't like it.

it's still funny to me that smoking weed is legal in most of America now but you still can't buy a bong on Amazon, whereas moonshining is illegal nationwide and you CAN buy stills on Amazon. Some pretty nice stills even.

there's like a general consensus that it originally referred specifically to grapes descending from the wild Fox Grape, which includes Concord and Catawba (now unheard of but once a dominant wine grape in north america)

but a lot of authors ran with the name and invented monologues about muskiness

mostly unrelated because I'm seizing an opportunity to mention a factoid I've been obsessed with lately but did you know there's a known flavor in wine tasting called "foxiness" ? It basically disappeared from the tasting world because foxy wines aren't popular but vintners still know about it
