Confronting your feelings is gonna be ugly. No rainbows & butterflies; mostly facing regret, shame, worry. I don’t wanna write poetry to be pretty. I wanna share vulnerable, shameful, guilt ridden feelings we’re too scared to show.

Maybe I’ll get to process the holes bulleted across my heart.

I won’t lie
Won’t sugarcoat things
Truth of the matter is
I’m afraid I’m gonna die
Die at hands that are not mine
Or at the end of a long life
No I will die soon
Having not lived
Open and free
Free to be me
Free to taste
And see
And love
And be
I’m afraid of dying
With regrets so big
Because I lived
The only life I lived
A coward
Running and hiding
Scared of people finding
My mistakes, my flaws
Turning their backs
Because I lived wrong
Scared that my death
Will mean nothing
Pretending to have lived
Like my life meant something
But my actions match not
The worlds I’ve conjured in my head
So I’m scared, scared of death
Scared to meet my end
Without having made sense
Of this life I wish
I had more to live
