Like sir have you heard of writing?

Yeah, the proportions are fine, anatomy is good, there's no wierd blending of disparate elements. If anything I think this shows that artists should try to avoid the hypersaturated high contrast style of ai to make their work distinct.

That's what I loved about this monologue, where he immediately centred the victims, "I mean they visibly didn't like it."

Yup, and that plays into their strategy. Getting air-time regardless of how dishonest they are allows them to turn any appearance towards their own propaganda. If the norm was to push back then networks wouldn't beg for access, the fascists would beg for an appearance. Push back would be easy.

Incredible that some people can't draw the clear line between renting and being unhoused.

Landlords don't supply housing, they gatekeep it.

Cotality's Rental Review for the quarter was published last week, and it shows that even though growth in rent increases has slowed, renters are still being squeezed: median capital rents are now more than $700 a week.

I have had times where I have completely stopped all the day's proceedings to do some science with them to demonstrate just how wrong they are about what they just insisted on without thinking. "Oh you're gonna be annoying right now? I have so much more experience at that than you."
excrubulent.bsky.social
So you get real pissed about it, but the job, imho, is to patiently reflect back to them their own words, and help them understand that this is something they are going to need to learn to get past before they piss off the wrong person.

About these times: they're feeling the need to express themselves and have opinions, but they've never done it before so they're bad at it. They'll take the first, easiest thing and just say it. If it reminds you of the worst people you know, it's because those people never grew past this stage.

That is fucking haunting. I wonder if I have seen him before and his memory just slid out of my brain in slug form.
excrubulent.bsky.social
I literally just decided to look up who he is because I had no idea. The first photo made me instantly want to shed my own skin and the next 50 photos were exactly the same photo with slightly different hair, lighting and makeup.

But someone did reply to this telling me I was wrong AND chiding me for my aggressive tone. Amazing.

(this is a lie but if I invent a weird little obviously-wrong guy for us to be mad at together then that will trojan-horse my point into your brain and then you'll think I'm right)

I am not subtweeting anyone, this has just been a bugbear of mine for a while.

"The problem with talking on the internet is that tone cannot be conveyed through text."

What exactly the fuck are you talking about.

There is one fundamental truth about mutual aid, and it always shocks people:

YOU MUST BREAK THE LAW IN ORDER TO ACTUALLY HELP PEOPLE.

This truth alone should radicalize you.

The more you work on scale, branding, recognition, institutional funding, the harder it becomes to actually
help people.

It's a linux distro that is shy to mention that it's a linux distro, which is fascinating. I didn't think we'd develop that kind of technology in my lifetime.

I'm more just excited to see a personal flying vehicle that ISN'T a glorified drone. At least in theory this thing could autorotate.

For instance I'm less interested in how easy it is for anyone to fly with the fly-by-wire system than I am in what failsafes and mechanical backups exist. I don't think it's great to advertise that you can fly this thing with no training, because that's never been true.

Imagine staking out a severely mentally disabled child ready to kidnap them the moment their parents aren't watching. Pathetic and cowardly, and a reminder that these people have not moved on from the eugenics of a century ago.

Maybe something about scapegoats actually.

I think a much better response is to draw the link between anti-trans activism and fossil fuels, make them wear it on their face. Turn the distraction back on them and show people, "these are the people who're destroying the planet; this is what your enemy is really like."
excrubulent.bsky.social
I think also people see this and think, "We can sacrifice a pawn or two, that happens in chess all the time," but the analogy breaks down at this point. We don't get to just sacrifice whole populations to fascists because appeasement doesn't work.

This is literally "first they came for".

I think it's also about how iconic the Tron aesthetic is. Like if you say something is "like Tron", most people will immediately get it. The neon-on-black look is instantly recognisable even if the movies themselves aren't that good, so it's really easy to sell the idea of Tron.

Get an electric drill to hold a shaft to act as a driven axle, then hold out as many idler axles as you want to shape the chain, get the chain moving with the drill, then gently remove the axles and see if it holds its shape. The materials for this are probably already on the ISS.
