Journalist Melisa Gülbaş fined for “insulting a public official”

Court imposed a fine of TL 7,080 at the end of the 4th hearing held in İstanbul today. The sentence was deferred.

The case was filed upon a complaint by academic Dr. Mehmet Turan.

3rd hearing in the trial of journalist Rahime Karvar on charge of “membership in a terrorist organization” was held in İstanbul today. Prosecutor demanded sentencing in their final opinion. Court decided to maintain judicial control measures and adjourned case until 13 November.

The 2nd hearing in the trial of journalist Reyhan Hacıoğlu on the charge of “membership in a terrorist organization” was held in Van today. Defense requested that the judicial control measures be lifted. The court rejected the request and adjourned the case until 6 January 2026.

Trial of journalist Elif Akgül for “membership in a terrorist organization” began today. The court ruled that judicial control measures should continue, and send the case file to the prosecutor’s office for them to file their final opinion. Trial was adjourned until 4 December.
