Proud of this piece in @theartnewspaper.bsky.social on a critical issue that will seriously limit artistic expression online across the US!

New age verification legislation in 22 U.S. states—meant to protect minors from “harmful” online content— are bound to sweep up artists in regulations that will lead to self-censorship and put limits to the pubic's access to art.

“Artists should enjoy greater levels of protections for their contribution to public debate, essential in a free and open society.”

Too long artists have relied on the black-box appeals systems within platforms to decide the fate of their visibility. This has real potential to change the game for artists who experience censorship and suppression online.
Thanks @theartnewspaper.bsky.social

The UK’s encryption-breaking order for a backdoor into iCloud isn’t a one-off.

The secret hearing happening RIGHT NOW is bigger than just Apple. If the government wins, our right to privacy and security falls.

Other services will be hit.

The UK’s recent demand of Apple to break E2EE for iCloud storage was/is dangerous for everyone, everywhere, including artists.
It's critical that artists are aware of threats to their digital rights, so thank you @theartnewspaper.bsky.social for the opportunity.
More arts journals should care.

My article about the EU's out-of-court dispute settlement bodies (ODS's) published by @theartnewspaper.bsky.social
I see a lot of potential for ODS's to incorporate artistic freedom cases, and give a better voice to artists' needs and challenges. But first, we need to use them. Read about it here:
Here's how the EU is aiding artists in tackling social media moderation issues
Out-of-court dispute settlement bodies are an important development in supporting creative expression

The Body Room is one of the most important and truly feminist things I've ever created, along with my inspired collaborator @awayfromthegrain.bsky.social <3 happy international women's day
We are foundationally a feminist space, borne from the notion that women are especially subject to scrutiny in our society, and that the energy we spend holding, digesting, and responding to that scrutiny could be used in other, more self-loving ways. Happy International Women's Day!
So honored to join this prestigious jury for @playdecentraland.bsky.social Fashion Week “The Banners We Wear” competition! 🥰
Loop 2, printed at Paco Mora in València
so, 3 labels were automatically put on this collage artwork: "Adult Content (explicit sexual images)", "Sexually Suggestive (Does not include nudity)", and "Non-Sexual Nudity (e.g. artistic nudes)" I very much disagree with the first 2, appeals aren't working. @moderation.bsky.app @bsky.app
I opened my @flashes.blue acct to have a better place to share my art, so I better get started 😘
Happy Valentine’s Day 💖💖 (this is a test of the labeling system, have a lovely day!) @nipocrisy.bsky.social
Exposure Therapy reveals the Nipocrisy of gender-based censorship and promotes body equality. For our new frontiers of censorship and threats to free expression, I will be pursuing the fight using the name Nipocrisy from now on. Find the history of Exposure Therapy on IG at @NIPeoPLE
Not all nudity is sexual— it depends on intent and consent. I use nudity in my artwork, which is often misunderstood as sexual, further proving the need for my activism.
I spoke about my project @nipocrisy.bsky.social and the effects of gender-based censorship on free expression w @eff.org 👇❤️‍🔥
