At Whipple where expired dicks are being thrown at ICE vehicles and those believed to be agitators. The area has been a place of protest since thousands of federal agents arrived in the city.

"With proportional representation, no one would ever need to worry about splitting the vote again. No one would need to choose the lesser evil to keep the greater evil out of office. We could vote for the parties we actually wanted."

We don't know who will win in Gorton and Denton. But we can be almost certain that:

- The next MP will have received a small minority of the vote, likely under 1/3.

- Thousands will vote tactically and not for who they actually want.

This is not what democracy should look like.

the coming turmoil, with a proto-fascist waiting in the wings, isn't going to be pretty: but our political system is so ossified that the only way forward is for it to break

and it's not going to be pretty
the Mandelson business is a watershed moment: it's the end of the Labour Party. just as Johnson was the end of the Tories, the two former main parties 'have their political future behind them', as the Danish saying goes

oh fuck... I wish we didn't live in interesting times
