Yesterday a statue was unveiled for Trijn Rembrands but also for all other girls & women who fought the Spanish with equal bravery as the men during the siege of Alkmaar during the Eighty Years' War in 1573 and women who fight today.

Alexa, play: Iron Age war trumpets 🎺This war trumpet - known as the Deskford carnyx - dates back to 80-200AD. The Deskford carnyx is made from sheet bronze and brass. Brass is not native to Scotland, so it represents recycled Roman metal. Today only the head survives. But in 2016, Musician John Kenny played the replica and gave us an idea of what this ancient instrument would have sounded like. It’s a masterpiece of early Celtic art. Boar horn > Ear worm 🐗
