I hunt fake history and correct it, but also post amazing real history stuff. Rude, obscene, vulgar, racist people who can't act like grown-ups get blocked.

Did I mention I wrote a book?
Only a few million times I reckon, so time to remind you once more ;)

I've been buying medieval replicas again... I can't resist!
This time a Trivet made by Kloosterhuis ( www.smederijkloosterhuis.nl ) and a frying pan made by @atelierable.bsky.social
I guess this means I have to record a video of me making pancakes on an open fire one of these weeks :)

Just some gorgeous photos of some delicious medieval (replica) sallets made by Elthien Armory.
One day I'll own one.
Maybe I should marry a knight, I hear they come with a free suit of armour.

When you're going through an 1940s photo album you bought online and spot something familiar!
I also have that tile honouring Dutch housewives during the Hungerwinter!

Someone asked me if I thought a man or a woman invented making fire.
I said neither.
I think it was an annoyed child who had to look after her stupid brother while everyone went hunting and so she started angrily throwing bits of flint around the cave :)

🧪 #Palaeolithic scicomm : words & visuals matter in reporting.
Based on Google News results, all but three major news sites used some variation of "human" or "people" to report this. Those that didn't?
BBC & The Guardian used "man" (now altered)... and GB news used "cavemen" (I'd bet deliberately)

Love this book, its on my pile of books that I still need to review.
Books that change our perspective of our ancestors in a positive way are my favourite and this one does that wonderfully.
🎄 📚 A Christmas book post:
Endless love to everyone who has supported #Kindred over the years - if you've read & loved it, consider gifting it to someone else this year, or you can give me a little 🎁 with a review! (on whichever website you prefer)

🏺 For anyone reading this @livescience.com piece, I don't know of any #Neanderthal sites with "ritual 'altars' of circular or arranged skulls", whether hominin or bear.

(for clarity I was asked to comment for this but did not have time)
There are hints that Neanderthals engaged in ritualistic practices. And it brings about the question:

Did Neanderthals have religious beliefs? 🏺🧪

Whether Neanderthals had religious beliefs is a subject of ongoing debate. The fact is... we just don't know.

The horror series Derry shows the 1950s as colourful, nostalgic and sunny, much of the time anyway.
It makes the scary dark scenes work even better, contrast can create tension.
Those who make shows set in the middle ages please take notice ;)
