Following the latest FIFA #WorldCup update, Scotland fan Stephen has shared the impact it will have on him & other fans with disabilities.
Scotland fan Stephen on the latest World Cup ticket info: "I have been a Scotland Supporters Club member since I was eight years old. I have waited all my life to see my country play at a World Cup. I have arranged my travel to the tournament, but the percentage of tickets allocated to people who use wheelchairs compared to overall stadium capacity is simply abhorrent. In the stadium in Miami, the allocation is just 2% of wheelchair spaces in the stadium, and only 0.00009% across the stadium as a whole. Only 3% of people who use wheelchairs and attend every match at Hampden will have a ticket. Unlike non-disabled supporters, we cannot find other ways to get a ticket. Factoring in the prices too, the situation becomes even worse. Many non-disabled fans who work full time are already struggling to afford these prices. There are people with disabilities who cannot work at all, so where is the hope for them? We need the Scottish FA & all other FAs to fight for supporters with disabilities"

Still no response from FIFA on its disregard for fans with disabilities in #FIFAWorldCup ticket pricing.

I have travelled my whole life to games, but the FIFA ticketing policy for the 2026 World Cup makes it feel like the tournament isn’t made for people like me. Charging full ticket prices for essential companions isn’t equality, it’s a barrier. It effectively doubles the cost of attending and turns access into a luxury. Instead of feeling excited about the World Cup, I feel priced out and excluded from the biggest event in the world.” A quote from Christian Fast, Austria supporter, FSE Disability & Inclusion Fan Network Member on World Cup ticket prices: I was shocked by the ticket prices, but what I don't understand at all is that companions have to buy a ticket, too. Most of the companions that I meet at matches aren't even interested in football but without them so many disabled fans simply will not be able to go to the stadium at all.” A quote from Andrea Zorloni, Italy supporter, FSE Disability & Inclusion Fan Network Member on World Cup ticket prices: "It is unacceptable that FIFA fails to respect the principles of inclusion. The exorbitant ticket prices and the lack of options for companions highlight an even deeper problem: the insufficient consideration for disabled fans. Without dialogue with us, we cannot build the future. Football does not belong solely to the elite, but to anyone who shares the same passion, each with their own possibilities. It's time everyone understands that we too are part of this great football community.” A quote from Zdeněk Barlok, Czechia supporter, FSE Disability & Inclusion Fan Network Member on World Cup ticket prices: "I’m surprised that the tickets for the upcoming World Cup are not only the highest prices ever for general tickets but also for fans with disabilities too. Aggressive profiteering on selling tickets to fans with disabilities is unthinkable. I would understand that a pint of beer could cost a higher price but not the ticket prices to attend this hopefully fantastic event. I appeal to FIFA. Let’s make better conditions for all supporters to attend as the energy behind the World Cup.”

❌ Zero protection from scalping on resale platform

FIFA is ignoring fans with disabilities who want to back their team at the #WorldCup.

Here are some of their voices.
A quote from Jo McNicol, England supporter, FSE Disability & Inclusion Fan Network Member, speaking about the FIFA World Cup 2026 ticket prices: "I booked my flights and transport for the upcoming World Cup as soon as we were able to. I wasn’t successful in the first two ballots and at no point did I need to tell them I need wheelchair seats. I found it very strange they didn’t ask for this or allow you to advise you wanted accessible seating. FIFA are allowing anyone to purchase a wheelchair space. I also found wheelchair tickets on the resale platform at a high price with only one space and no seat for a personal assistant (companion). I can’t travel to games without someone helping me. The companion seat is needed for me to be able to attend safely.” A quote from Piotr Czarnota, Poland supporter, FSE Disability & Inclusion Fan Network Member, speaking about the FIFA World Cup 2026 ticket prices: "For 12 years I’ve had the honor of following my national team, Poland, as a supporter. During that time I’ve been to four tournaments both European Championships and World Cups. Until now I’ve never had any problems purchasing tickets or organising my travel and accommodation. Although Poland’s qualification for the World Cup will only be decided in March, I can already say that the proposed ticket costs are shockingly high from my perspective. Planning a barrier-free trip, booking accessible accommodation and having an assistant attend matches with me are essential if I am to take part in this football event. Unfortunately, the current challenges related to ticket accessibility and pricing are making the prospect of attending this celebration of football increasingly unrealistic.” A quote from Jon Attenborough, Scotland supporter, FSE Disability & Inclusion Fan Network Member, speaking about the World Cup 2026 accesibility tickets: "It’s absolutely disgraceful. It just shows FIFA’s complete lack of consultation with disabled fans and their representative groups. Charging full price for an extra adult ticket will have a devastating impact on disabled supporters and their ability to afford attending the World Cup.” A quote from Alberto Alaiz, Spain supporter, FSE Disability & Inclusion Fan Network Member, speaking about the World Cup 2026 accessibility ticket prices: "Since its inception, football has been founded on the bond between players and supporters. Without the fans, modern football is reduced to little more than a casual kickabout. Yet while FIFA proudly announces the expansion of the World Cup, it simultaneously prices supporters out with tickets affordable only to the wealthy. If the experience is already costly and challenging for the average fan, it is even more prohibitive for those of us with disabilities."
