At Fayerweather, students know that knowledge and action go hand-in-hand, especially when it comes to art! After studying the impact of zines and learning from activist artists like Keith Haring, they create their own work, from zines to graffiti, speaking to issues they care about.

On Monday evening, some of the 3/4 students spoke at the Cambridge City Council meeting in support of a policy order regarding the opportunity to install green and gray infrastructure following the demolition of the MBTA garage at Alewife. We are so proud of our student activists!

Happy Pride! Tuesday, Fayerweather celebrated an important & joyfully necessary tradition: our annual Pride March. We marched to demonstrate the need for love, acceptance, and standing up for the rights of everyone to love and be loved.

What do sushi making, nail art, kickball, capture the flag, lock picking, camping, teddy bear picnics, and Catan have in common? They're all just some of the projects - organized by FSS staff -- that Fayerweather students got to try their hand at during our annual Project Day!

Fayerweather students participate annually in Community Service Day, engaging in projects for social good. This year, they visited Neville Place residents, collected food bank donations, picked up litter, made soup for shelters, removed invasive plants , and wrote for Letters Against Isolation.

Congratulations to our Ultimate Frisbee team (The Discos!) for the culmination of a great season! The team crushed it this season, coming together to become a true force on the field. Three of our players were also nominated to join a local all-star team. Way to go, Discos!

Students in 5/6 explored the science of bread! 🧪🍞 We tested acid/base reactions with baking soda & buttermilk, learned how yeast produces CO₂, and even inflated balloons! After collecting natural materials at Fresh Pond, we captured wild yeast and used it in our final bakes, shared with families.

Our commitment to justice goes hand-in-hand with our focus on place-based learning. Recently, our 3-4 students visited Mystic Lake as part of a lesson on watershed and ecolories as well as a student-led project to raise awareness about the importance of the Mystic River Watershed to the area.
